Sound Design: Abstract Soundscape
*Originally submitted November 6th, 2019 for the Sound Design course at the University of Virginia
This piece was submitted as the third of four projects for the Sound Design course at UVa. The third project was creating an abstract soundscape based off of an abstract painting. The purpose of this assignment was to convey the colors, shading, brushstrokes, and other elements of the painting into an aural experience using Logic. For this project, I created my own sounds using Logic that I thought would depict what I saw in Rothko’s painting. I also took a few pre-existing sounds and altered them so that they would no longer be recognizable. The sound reads the painting from top to bottom; begin at the top with the grey that merges into the fuchsia.
